The Climate Harmony Project was delivered through three connected components: tree planting and climate-change sensitisation, a climate-change adaptation demonstration farm, and a digital advocacy drive.

Component 1: Tree Planting and Climate-Change Sensitisation

Purpose: to increase awareness among pupils and students of climate change, practical environmental action and green technologies.

Project results:

  • Reached 2,520 students in 14 schools.
  • Planted 420 trees through school-related activities.
  • Worked with the Akwamu Kingdom on the planting of an additional 1,800 trees.
  • Established a climate club involving 20 young people, introducing participants to climate change and green technologies. The club has proposed a target of planting 1,000 trees.

Component 2: Climate Change Adaptation Project

Purpose: to introduce climate-smart agricultural methods that support resilience and soil health.

Project results:

  • Established a one-acre demonstration farm.
  • Demonstrated minimum tillage, intercropping and soil-moisture conservation.
  • Produced 600 kilograms of maize.
  • Produced 4,050 cabbage heads.
  • Engaged 65 farmers directly, with knowledge sharing reaching at least 150 additional farmers.

Component 3: Climate Change Digital Drive

Purpose: to use digital communication to support climate awareness and environmental advocacy.

Project results:

  • Shared climate information and environmental content through digital platforms.
  • Promoted awareness of forest conservation.
  • Increased AfEI’s social-media following by more than 1,000.
  • Introduced an email newsletter.
  • Supported campaigns including Hands Off Achimota Forest.
  • Promoted public engagement concerning Atewa Forest.
  • The project has proposed the development of an eco-field by 2030.
