The Life in a Changing Landscape II programme will be implemented in the Asuogyaman District of Ghana’s Eastern Region, targeting communities such as Kwanyarko, Nnudu, Aboasa, Asikuma, Fintey, Osiabra, and Frankadua. These sites were selected based on lessons from the 2024 pilot phase, which identified them as both highly vulnerable to climate variability, land degradation, and declining agricultural productivity, and as communities with strong farmer networks and committed traditional authorities. Focusing on these locations ensures continuity, leverages existing trust, and engages farmers already mobilised during the pilot.
The programme is jointly led by AfEI and GYEM, combining complementary expertise and long-term presence in the region. AfEI brings technical experience in Climate and Nature-Smart Agriculture (CNSA), farmer mobilisation, and community safeguarding, while GYEM contributes its youth leadership network, advocacy reach, and innovations in climate action and agroecology. Since 2024, both organisations have co-designed field activities and farmer trainings, establishing robust collaboration and shared accountability mechanisms, making them well-positioned to drive district-wide adaptation and sustainable livelihood transformation.
