Climate Harmony Project

Climate Harmony: Building a Sustainable Future
The Climate Harmony Project, powered by AfEI and supported by Gower Street, focused on practical climate action through three interconnected sub projects. Each initiative addressed critical aspects of climate change awareness, adaptation, and advocacy.

Tree Planting & Climate Change Sensitization

Goal: To raise awareness among pupils and students on climate change and green technologies.
This flagship activity created spaces for dialogue and practical action among young people from upper primary to senior high schools. Students learned about green technologies and their role in combating climate change. AfEI reached 2,520 students across 14 schools, planted 420 trees, and partnered with the Akwamu Kingdom to plant 1,800 more. A Climate Club of 20 enthusiastic youths was formed, aiming to plant 1,000 trees in 2023.
Impact: Inspired youth to embrace sustainability and green careers.

Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCAP)
Goal: To promote climate smart agriculture for resilience and soil health.
Building on AfEI’s Smart Agriculture and Water Life initiative, CCAP established a one acre demonstration farm showcasing conservation agriculture techniques such as minimal tillage, intercropping, and moisture conservation. Despite off season planting, the project yielded 600 kg of maize and 4,050 cabbage heads. AfEI engaged 65 farmers directly, who influenced at least 150 more, helping shift from soil depleting practices to sustainable farming.

Climate Change Digital Drive
Goal: To use digital platforms to amplify climate advocacy.
Narrative: Recognizing the internet’s power, AfEI launched a robust digital campaign to share climate facts, showcase Ghana’s natural beauty, and advocate for forest conservation. The team grew its social media following by 1,000+, launched Mailchimp newsletters, and spearheaded campaigns like Hands Off Achimota Forest. These efforts aimed to protect Atewa Forest and develop an eco field by 2030 through petitions and stakeholder engagement.
Impact: Mobilized online communities for environmental action.
